International Flight Booking

Group members may book any flight itinerary, with any airline that they wish. The recommended itinerary below provides travel from Abilene, TX to Rome, Italy. The same itinerary can be booked to/from Dallas without the Abilene option, possibly cheaper). This is a great itinerary with a non-stop Dallas - Rome flight on arrival minimizing the risk of trip interruption. Group transfers to/from Rome airport on arrival and departure will be planned in accordance with the flight schedules for this recommended group flight (see below). Taxis to/from Rome’s FCO airport to the hotels in the historic area of Rome are a flat rate 55 Euro, and easily arranged for independent needs if arriving or departing on alternate schedules. You may also wish to search for “multi-city” flights if you wish to depart from an alternate airport and extend your time in Italy after the TTT program.

Physical Endurance

***This study program is only suitable for those who are physically able to walk a minimum of 3-5 miles per day, on a variety of terrain. The risk of injury from falls is high for those with mobility impairments, and for your well-being, we cannot recommend this program for you.***

To reach most of the teaching sites, each day will require at least 3-5 miles of walking over a variety of terrain including pavement, dirt, cobbled, gravel, and worn (slippery) stone. Expect to be walking up and down hills, in varying weather. PREPARE: To prepare for this trip, take stairs instead of elevators, go for daily walks (with incline if possible), or engage in other cardio activities. This will allow you to get the most out of your experience with less fatigue as we make the most of each day of our journey.

SUPPORT: We ask those with limited mobility who dream of journeying to the land of the Bible to share your concerns with your group leader, and to have humble conversations to discern if this trip is a good option for you physical ability. On arrival, please be willing to advise Travel the Text’s Geoff Carroll of any mobility concerns so we can continue to advise and support you.

Passport

You must have a passport for international travel. Your passport should be valid for travel for at least 6 months from your date of travel or we recommend that you renew it:
